20 Years Quantitative Finance UZH ETH

On Friday 3rd November 2023 we celebrated "20 years Quantitative Finance UZH ETH" with over 100 alumni and about 20 invited guests.

In a first part in the small aula of UZH we enjoyed talks from Prof. Harald Gall (Dean of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics), Prof Josef Teichmann (Head of the Department of Mathematics of ETH Zurich), Prof. Freddy Delbaen (one of the founders of the joint Quantitative Finance UZH ETH), several alumni (Kinga Kacmarek, Antonio Del Favero, Isabelle Fries Kuksin, Dr. Urban Ulrych) and Dr. Christian Bluhm (Group Chief Risk Officer of UBS) as our keynote speaker. An award for the best "Quantitative Finance Master's Thesis" was presented by Dr. Martin Weber (Chair of the Board of Directors of Robeco Switzerland). This new initiative is a by-product of an ongoing new collaboration beween the University of Zurich, ETH Zurich, and Robeco promoting research on the topic of sustainable investing.

In a second part we dislocated to the festively decorated Dozentenfoyer at the top of ETH to have an apéro and a wonderful seated dinner. With his funny anecdotes alumnus Akilesh Matur made everybody laugh, and the last talk of the evening was hold by Antonello Cirulli, president of the very active "Zurich Quantitative Finance Alumni" (ZQFA) organisation, who "in normal times" takes care of the alumni gatherings.
