Master of Science UZH ETH in Quantitative Finance (MScQF) is a highly international degree program offered jointly by the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich. It is ranked number 1 in Europe and on the 7th position worlwide in the RiskNet Quant Finance Master's Guide 2023.
Highlights and Special Features
The MScQF - entirely taught in English - offers its students a unique blend of training in quantitative methods for finance and economics, covering the fundamental concepts associated with financial economics, financial markets, asset management, and risk management.
A distinguishing feature of the MScQF is its unique combination of economic theory and finance with mathematical methods (probability theory, statistics and econometrics, numerical analysis) for finance and insurance. Lectures are taught by worldwide leading scholars in the field, as well as by leading financial practitioners. Recent developments in the FinTech area are included in several lectures.

Another career opportunity is to begin doctoral studies in a PhD program in (quantitative) finance, opening the door to an academic career.
Organisation
The curriculum consists of two semesters of coursework followed by the writing of a Master's thesis. The program starts every year in the fall semester (mid September). Interested persons need to apply online for a place of study by 15 January. Admission is very competitive.
Enrollment and Costs
The MScQF is a unique offer as a top program in quantitative finance that is accessible on the basis of academic merit. In the spirit of ETH and UZH as public education institutions in Switzerland, the program does not charge major fees, rendering it highly affordable.
The tuition fee for the program per semester (half year) is about CHF 800 plus a supplementary charge of CHF 100 for international students. There is an application fee of CHF 200 plus a one time enrollment fee of CHF 100 for admitted students.
Accepted applicants will be enrolled at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics of UZH, but will also benefit from access to facilities at ETH.
